This laptop is very cheap for what it provides. I bought it in 2006 April, and it is very ok for my use. I simply recommend it to you because it has all the features you need.

This is a good review, even though I cannot stand this particular notebook computer. My company issued me a D531. I travel on business 50% of the time. I am a VMWare power user. I cannot stand this laptop. It is a very heavy system, making it a joy to carry in the field. As pointed out in the review, there is no pointing stick. I have clock issues with VMWare guests, because of the AMD dual core processors. If you are purchasing hardware for your company, do us a favor and go with a D630...

Its processor type is ok too, the AMD type which is cool by me.

These are some of the features that stole my heart away.
You can stay connected wherever you find yourself with the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and mobile broadband3 features. I have had opportunuties to get connected to the internet when i was on vacation with my family in California, when i go mountain climbing and anywhere i need to the internet.

The resolution of the screen is so wonderful, about 1920x1200. How many laptops computers have such resolution? Again, the screen size is 15.4-inch which is not considered as large or small.

I love that size and it is comfortable for me. There were times i had to work on some high resolution pictures, and i discovered it gives me a better effect than you can even get on other screen resolution of that size.

The battery life again is not that bad. I have been using my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer, an i havent changed the battery. It averagely runs for about 5 hours, which is ok for me. Although, if it can be better, i don't mind, but what can i do? The battery cell is a six-cell type, bt it still functions well enough.

The weight, yeah this is the part i didn't love very much. I weighs about 7.5 pounds. I consider this as heavy because i was using a Gateway laptop notebook previously, and i think i got used to that weight, which about 2.5 pounds, you should scream...

But it hasn't been much of a problem because i am always on the road during weekends, because my family lives in Michigan. So, i guess that makes me a partial road user. It is a wonderful laptop for that purpose aside its weight.

Well, personally, i am not impressed with the keyboard arrangements of the Dell Inspiron. It gets clumped up together eventhough there is enough space to go round. But i guess that is Dell's design. Some of the keys are so hidden, that you have to take your time to find it out.

Well, that all about what i didn't like, but the Dell Inspiron 6000 is an amazing laptop computer with functions, that are uncompared to other laptop computers.

I was personally impressed when i came across the Dell XPS 2010 notebook computer. But some of the things that pissed me off is the fact that it is too expensive, its TV tuner is not built-in, including other A/V connections.

Macbook Pro 17-Inch Unibody

The Macbook Pro has long defined itself as the premier notebook in style features and performance. And while it has not been one of the cheapest notebooks, it still gets high praise for its keen adherence to design and performance.

Design & Performance

The design of the new Unibody MacBook Pro is one more of refinement then innovation.

For starters the system is now housed in a shell made from a single sheet of aluminum (hence the name unibody). According to Apple this allows the system to be more environmental friendly (a big issue with Apple these days) as well as providing easier access to parts and components.

The screen has now been embellished with a new edge to edge glass screen which results in significant glare in highly lit rooms. Ironically Apple offers an anti-glare option for a cool $50. (yeah we know). Clearly Apple is aiming this laptop at photographers and graphics designers as it touts the high color gamet of the screen (something regular users would not be interested in).

The keyboard has also been reworked and has been given the spaced click-it keyboard that has been in the MacBook 13-inch for years. We have noticed that while they look the same, the feel is above average for the MacBook Pro and feels a lot more refined.

The touch pad has also been reworked. In all the single button has been removed and instead has been replaced with a multi-touch pad that can accept one, two and four finger gestures. The whole thing has been turned into a giant click pad which does get some getting used to but is totally worth it.

You've probably heard about the integrated battery. This has been our major problem with the new system. Although it does perform nicely (and lasts for 1000 charges according to Apple) it still falls short for those who would be tempted to use this computer for more then six hours without charging it or an extended battery.

In terms of specs: the system can take up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM (equivalent to 16GB of DDR2), up to 500GB HDD and or 128GB SSD, NVIDIA integrated and discrete graphics as well as 3 USB ports Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n.

We just wish Apple would have given a little thought to putting a card reader into the thing and a Blu-Ray option.

Performance
Performance was a little disappointing to us. Mainly because we had tested the MacBook Pro 15-inch and was expecting a little more for $3400.

Although the system did not disappoint performance wise, it was not a great step up from the 15-inch model.

As we said before, this system is mainly intended for those who want a 15-inch system with a little more screen real estate.

The system was able to do basic tasks such as word processing and web surfing just as good as the MacBook but totally blew it away when it comes to graphic performance.

We'll just note that this is not a gaming system so if you're looking to play Crysis or COD4 you should probably look else ware. But it can handle most mid range games with decent graphics.

The SSD option really boosts hard drive performance and if you have the money its something you should invest in.

Conclusion
The new 17-inch MacBook Pro is a prize winner (just not in price), and if you have the dough you will not be disappointed. However we cannot justify the premium price for such a little upgrade over the 15-inch model. But if you want the best of the best, then this is your call.

ASROCK MULTIBOOK G22

As you might have guessed looking at the netbook design and the name (as will as the logo) ASRock is a spinoff of ASUS. That however is beside the point when it comes to their new Multibook G22 which packs some impressive features for a netbook. Under the hood you'll find a dual core Atom 330 processor, NVIDIA Ion, 2GB of RAM and yes a multitouch trackpad. It also comes with a 12.1-inch widescreen display that is good for 1366x768 pixels. Not to stop there though, the system ads such things as a 320GB hard drive, 10-in-1 card reader, VGA out, HDMI out, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a DVD burner.

Most impressive is it weighs just 3.3 pounds (without the battery). No word on price or availability yet, but we're sure that will come around in the near future.

ASUS EeePC 1000HV COMES BACK FROM THE DEAD

This is not the first time we have seen the 1000HV for back in 2008 it was leaked along with a bunch of other ASUS models. Now we are getting more details on said system.

Things to expect include a 10.1 inch screen with 1024x600 display, 1.66GHz Atom N280 CPU, 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM as well as VGA out. You will be glad to know that there is an AMD HD 3450 graphics set underneath.

So far that is all we know. But we will be releasing more info as it comes to life.

LENOVO IDEAPAD U350 AND G550

We'll get right to the point with this one. Ideapad not only announced the availability of the first ION based netbook, but they're also releasing some moderately priced notebooks. The two which were announced today is the U350 and G550.

The U350 is a 13.3 inch notebook that comes with a 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display. Other features include ambient light sensor, HDMI out, 1.4GHz, 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor or 1.2GHz Celeron. 500GB hard drive is an optioin as well as 1.3 megapixel camera. Last but not least you get your choice of Vista Basic or Home premium as well as an 8-cell battery that can withstand 10-hours of use.

As for the G550 specs get bumped up a little to 15.6 inch display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI out, and five hours of battery life thanks to the 6-cell battery. Graphics chipset can be upgraded to a GeForce G105M.

Availability is scheduled for July and June respectively for a price of $649 and $599.

ACER ASPIRE TIMELINE

Its not the first we have layed eyes on the Timeline from Acer. But finally we are getting some specs. Turns out the laptops will be sporting 13.3, 14 and 15.6 inch screens as well as up to 4GB of RAM, 320GB hard drive and DVD. Of course the basics such as WiFi and WAN are all there including an 8 hour battery life and Window's Vista Home Premium.

No wording on price or availability but we can't expect Acer to hold out on us much longer.

SONY VAIO P GETS XP OPTION

We've been waiting for this for some time now, and today its finally here. After making one of the biggest blunders it could in the launching of its glorified netbook, Sony has axed Vista from the equation and instead replaced it with the much better suited XP.

Of course this means you are going to notice performance jumps if you should buy a new one, but unfortunately the inclusion of XP has not dropped the price any.

Some other news includes the addition of a 2GHz Atom in the Japanese version coming June 6th as well as a 256GB SSD option. You can expect this to run up the price from the base ¥85,000 or about $900.

That said, we'll be waiting on any other news as to when we will see a 2GHz model stateside.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H

The Eee PC 1008HA "Seashell" has basically just started to get recognized and, instead of letting the machine soak up the press, ASUS has decided to announce new variations of the 1008HA, and only a day after. But these new netbooks are not the 1005HAB that was tipped off on ASUS' support site. They are, however, the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M and the 1005HA-H.

The 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H have the same slim styling as the "Seashell" but with a few added upgrades. Both computers have removable batteries, both 6-cell for each computer good for up to 8 hours of battery life.

The 1005HA-M takes a lower end approach coming in with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 160GB hard drive, and 1GB of RAM and Wi-Fi and a 1.3 megapixel webcam but does not support Bluetooth.

The 1005HA-H is mostly the same as the "Seashell" as far as integral gears go with a few differences. The 1005HA-H has two USB 2.0 ports, keeps the 1.66GHz Atom Processor, supports Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 1 GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive. Both the 1005HA-H and 1005HA-M have 10-inch WSVGA 1024 x 600 displays with the 1005HA-H adding a glossy coating.

Connectivity wise, both computers contain 3 USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out, ethernet, and a 2-in-1 card reader. The measure about 10mm thicker than the Eee PC 1008HA and also weigh about 0.3kg more.

The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-H comes with a price tag of $473 and the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M comes in at $405. Both machines come in either black or white colors and should go on sale in France by the end of July with a release in the U.S. sometime after that.

Dell Latitude 2100

Never before has a laptop been more designed with a student in mind. The new Dell Latitude 2100 is a netbook that is designed specifically for the education market, especially students from kindergarten to eighth grade. The Latitude’s durable design and kid-centered features make this laptop ideal for the rapidly developing minds of children.

The fundamental components of the Latitude are very comparable to those of most other netbooks. The Latitude comes in five fun colors: School Bus Gold, Chalkboard Black, Ball Field Green, Blue Ribbon, and School House Red, and its starting price is $369.

I think that Dell has done a fantastic job developing this idea of a student netbook. A kid-friendly laptop with a durable design, an anti-microbial keyboard, and a light that indicates Web surfing is something that schools have been waiting for. Laptops are necessary within schools for projects, activities, research, and a variety of other instances, so having a laptop that can take a few scratches and bruises will save them from expensive computer repairs. The network activity light will aid teachers in keeping students on track and eventually allow for notice of a students completion of an activity. All these features, plus the reasonable starting price, make the Dell Latitude 2100 a wonderful new technological development for many schools and students.

ASUS HAS OBSESSION WITH SCTOCH TAPE

As you can plainly see from the photo above, someone at ASUS thought it better to use tape to secure parts in place then using something a little sturdier. At any rate it is a beauty to look at an Eee PC 1008HA (if you're geeky like us).

And since this runs as good as it looks, we have no complaints.

DELL STUDIO XPS 13/16 AVAILABLE IN RED

We're not sure why you wouldn't be convinced to pick up a Dell XPS after our review. But in case you needed that little something, we have it right here. Right now, you can pick up the best notebook Dell has made not only in Black but also in red with the leather trimmings in red also.

We're not sure if this will appeal to more women then men, but you'll finally be able to have it in either crimson or executive black. And its still for the price of $900 at many retailers. Pretty good price for a notebook that matches the Macbook at every point (and some).

HP ROLLS OUT NEW NOTEBOOK MINI 100 IN ITS MINI NOTEBOOK FAMILY

HP announced the launch of its latest notebook HP Mini 110 series which will replace Mini 1000. This new member in Mini notebooks family is available in pick chic, black swirl and white swirl protective HP imprints and comes in two flavors- The HP Mini 110 Mi Edition (Linux) and Windows XP Edition costing $279.99 and $329.99 respectively.

Its Linux version can be further upgraded to faster N280 CPU from Intel N270 Atom CPU while its Windows XP version features identical CPU upgradation option. ASUS 11.6-INCH Eee PC 1101HA COMING TO EU THIS MONTH

If you've been keeping up with this blog, you would have remembered that Asus demoed the Eee PC 1101HA back at Computex. Well they have not given it an official release date, but Notebook Italia is claiming the beast of a netbook is coming to Europe by months end. More importantly the device (according to them) will retail for the U.S equivalent of $560.

This is for a system that packs a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, Intel GMA graphics, 1GB of random access memory, 160GB hard disk drive and Window's XP to boot.

While we have heard rumors of a 3G version of said laptop that is yet to be clarified. Check out the video below.

By now you're aware that NVIDIA and Intel are not friends especially since NVIDIA announced that Ion would be competing with Intel's crappy GMA graphics cards in netbooks. Well this fight has a sudden turn of events as Japans DosPara has decided to pair "Romio and Juliet" together in the form of the Prime Note Cresion NA.

Yes people, NVIDIA's Ion chipset is paired with a dual-core Atom 330 processor, 2 gigs of RAM, 320GB hard drive and if that wasn't enough, memory card reader, optical drive (built in), HDMI out and a price tag of about $600 U.S.

Yeah, we're not too poised about the price but we do digg the idea of NVIDIA and Intel playing nicely....with some third party support.

ASUS AND DISNEY TEAM UP FOR CHILDRENS NETBOOK

Its not everyday Disney makes a succesful bid for the control of your kids tech lives. And so far most of what we have seen has fallen way below the success line. But it seems they might have just hit the jackpot as GadgetMix.com is reporting that Disney is working with ASUS to bring a netbook geared specifically towards kids.

The color choices will be limited with "Princess Pink" and "Magic Blue" as the starting colors. There will also Micky Mouse icons available for the netbooks.

On the software end, the device will come packed with a Disney interface (Linux derived), as well as parental controls and such. There will be themes available form Toy Story (third installment of the film coming next year), Wall-E and of course Mickey Mouse as well as other themes.

The specs don't say much though as it comes with the standard 8.9-inch Eee PC screen, 16GB of SSD or 160GB HDD and your usual 1GB of RAM. Release date is yet to be finalized but if you are interested in picking one of these bad boys up when they become available, be willing to dish otu three Benjamin's and a Grant (hence $350).

10-inch Acer Aspire One Officially Launched - Pink is Not Available

Acer has recently released the 10-inch version of Aspire One netbook, AOD150, in the U.S.

Acer provide a few color options for their new 10-inch Aspire One, but unfortunately pink is not one of them (there's a ruby red version though which might be of interest for pink laptop lovers).

Overall, Laptop Magazine gave it a rating of 4 out of 5.
