I bought it in 2006 April, and it is very ok for my use. My company issued me a D531. I travel on business 50% of the time. I am a VMWare power user. I cannot stand this laptop. It is a very heavy system, making it a joy to carry in the field. As pointed out in the review, there is no pointing stick. I have clock issues with VMWare guests, because of the AMD dual core processors. If you are purchasing hardware for your company, do us a favor and go with a D630...

Its processor type is ok too, the AMD type which is cool by me.
Come on... what are you waiting for...

Latitude D531 2006

Thanks.. Again, the screen size is 15.4-inch which is not considered as large or small.

Inspiron 6000

I love that size and it is comfortable for me. There were times i had to work on some high resolution pictures, and i discovered it gives me a better effect than you can even get on other screen resolution of that size.

Top of Dell Inspiron 6000

The battery life again is not that bad. I have been using my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer, an i havent changed the battery. It averagely runs for about 5 hours, which is ok for me. Although, if it can be better, i don't mind, but what can i do? The battery cell is a six-cell type, bt it still functions well enough.

Inspiron 6000 bottom view

The weight, yeah this is the part i didn't love very much. At first, i used it in the office, but i later had it moved to my house because it is needed more at home when i am relaxing than in the office when i am busy.

Dell Xps M2010 Laptop Computer

My kids have been having a good time with its gaming capabilities, and i am impressed they like it.

Although, i had a hard time purchasing it for $4,200, but i have adjusted to the fact that, it is needed in my home.

- I love it, i love its weight, i love everything about Dell XPS 2010 notebook computer. And while it has not been one of the cheapest notebooks, it still gets high praise for its keen adherence to design and performance.

Design & Performance

The design of the new Unibody MacBook Pro is one more of refinement then innovation.

For starters the system is now housed in a shell made from a single sheet of aluminum (hence the name unibody). According to Apple this allows the system to be more environmental friendly (a big issue with Apple these days) as well as providing easier access to parts and components.

The screen has now been embellished with a new edge to edge glass screen which results in significant glare in highly lit rooms. Ironically Apple offers an anti-glare option for a cool $50. (yeah we know). Clearly Apple is aiming this laptop at photographers and graphics designers as it touts the high color gamet of the screen (something regular users would not be interested in).

The keyboard has also been reworked and has been given the spaced click-it keyboard that has been in the MacBook 13-inch for years. We have noticed that while they look the same, the feel is above average for the MacBook Pro and feels a lot more refined.

The touch pad has also been reworked. In all the single button has been removed and instead has been replaced with a multi-touch pad that can accept one, two and four finger gestures. The whole thing has been turned into a giant click pad which does get some getting used to but is totally worth it.

You've probably heard about the integrated battery. This has been our major problem with the new system. Although it does perform nicely (and lasts for 1000 charges according to Apple) it still falls short for those who would be tempted to use this computer for more then six hours without charging it or an extended battery.

In terms of specs: the system can take up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM (equivalent to 16GB of DDR2), up to 500GB HDD and or 128GB SSD, NVIDIA integrated and discrete graphics as well as 3 USB ports Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n.

We just wish Apple would have given a little thought to putting a card reader into the thing and a Blu-Ray option.

Performance
Performance was a little disappointing to us. Mainly because we had tested the MacBook Pro 15-inch and was expecting a little more for $3400.

Although the system did not disappoint performance wise, it was not a great step up from the 15-inch model.

As we said before, this system is mainly intended for those who want a 15-inch system with a little more screen real estate.

The system was able to do basic tasks such as word processing and web surfing just as good as the MacBook but totally blew it away when it comes to graphic performance.

We'll just note that this is not a gaming system so if you're looking to play Crysis or COD4 you should probably look else ware. But it can handle most mid range games with decent graphics.

The SSD option really boosts hard drive performance and if you have the money its something you should invest in.

Conclusion
The new 17-inch MacBook Pro is a prize winner (just not in price), and if you have the dough you will not be disappointed. However we cannot justify the premium price for such a little upgrade over the 15-inch model. Notebooks generally operate on one main battery or via an external adapter that can both charge the battery and power the laptop.

Laptops are able to do the same work in an office staff, the only difference is that they are generally less powerful for the same cost. They contain similar elements, such as desktop computers and perform the same functions, except that they are miniature in size and suitable for use transportable and efficient energy consumption. Notebooks usually have different LCD and memory modules. They have a built-in keyboard; entry is through a keyboard or a pointing stick, but an external mouse can also be attached.

There are different categories of laptops. UMPCs are Ultra Mobile PC and are very portable. Because they are small, they can take in a small touch screen, while some other models have one minute physical keyboard and a mouse interface. The other type is Ultraportables, which are portable and the screens are less than eleven inches and are less than 3.7 pounds (1.7 kg) weight. They are generally used by travelers because they are small and lightweight but very expensive. They have an extended battery life and integrated graphics. The other type of portable is the Sony VAIO FJ76, and the Dell XPS M1330 and XPS M1210. Then we have the great laptops, which are more desktop computers in the budget. And if you want the power of the office, then you can opt for the replacement of office that can accommodate many components of performance.

Regarding processors are concerned, you should go for the faster that your budget allows. You can opt for the `Intel Centrino, which has a lot of speed and a good battery life. Or you can also go to the economic recovery Betting AMD mobile processors whose performance has lagged behind Intel. If you intend to watch DVDs on your laptop and large screen for those who provide clearer, larger and larger images. The only consideration is that they are not designed to carry a lot.

For a large system performance, it is vital to have enough memory (RAM) that will allow you to run multiple applications simultaneously. Adequate RAM is also essential for the image and video editing, graphics, 3D and gaming. Booklets typically have a terrible sound quality so it is recommended to use speakers or headphones. These are some of the factors that you should consider before buying a laptop.

Also keep in mind that like any electronic device, your computer is vulnerable to accidents, as well as system failures. It is recommended that you get at least a three-year warranty and other insurance.

Health risks associated with the use of a laptop has been a controversial issue for some time. Research has shown that the heat generated from notebooks can raise the temperature of the scrotum resulting in a reduction of sperm. One solution may be used on a table or keep him away from the tower, which allow for better cooling of the notebook and also prevent your turn excessive electromagnetic radiation and heat.

Some of the major brands who are Acer TravelMate notebook which, Ferrari and Aspire models, BenQ, with its Compaq Armada, LTE, and EVO Presario models. Other major labels Gateway, HCL, Lenovo, LG, Micro-Star International, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba and others.

This article is licensed under the GNU FDL and can be distributed without prior permission of the author. The idea of being able to work on the road is extremely fascinating. A notebook, also known as a laptop, which can also be understood as a laptop has been the solution for these tasks related laptop.

History

It is a little difficult to determine which is the first laptop or portable computer ever made. The Osborne 1 was considered by most historians to be the first true laptop or notebook. This was done by Adam Osborne in the year 1981. It included a 5-inch screen, modem, floppy drive, the software included some programs and a battery. The total weight of the laptop is about 11 kg. Gradually, after that Epson, Radio Shack, IBM, Apple Computer, etc. all come with a laptop. IBM's convertible IBM PC introduced in 1986 was a real laptop. This laptop launched in the region. Since the beginning of these models, copybooks were enormous development.

Features and Performance

Portables have the same major components that Desktops: microprocessor, memory, operating system, input / output ports, hard disk drives, speakers and sound cards and speakers. However, all laptops have power management features to extend battery or battery power when the battery is low. A notebook differs from a desktop in terms of food, display and the type of input devices it uses. Notebook processors usually have several places, which means slow modes which contribute to increasing the battery life and can also run on low voltage. Hard drive in the notebook also served in the same manner as in Desktop. They are slower in speed and have less capacity.

In addition to the hard drives, notebooks are also options for disk storage system such as floppy disks, CDs and DVDs. A notebook was also different input / output ports, which allow you to connect to various devices. Most laptops today feature built-in modems and Ethernet for connectivity outside. Ports infrared wireless connectivity are also becoming very popular. One of the most critical components in a laptop is its battery as it runs on battery for use while the move. Battery life is offered for each device because it depends on the configuration and power management features implemented. All computers come with a LCD display for output. For input, notebooks are featured with a keyboard embedded in the text for inputs. Regarding the pointing devices, notebooks use one of three Trackball, pointing stick, Touchpad.

Pros and Cons of Notebook

The most important advantage of a laptop is portability. You can work with ease at any time and any place. Also, access to the wireless network in public places is increasingly useful notebooks. The counting of disadvantages for a book always starts with its high cost. Not only the initial cost, its parts are expensive and are not interchangeable. Notebooks have less storage capacity and its processor is operating normally at a lower speed when on battery. Laptops are also prone to theft because of its portability.

Future directions

With falling prices and the acceptance of new technologies, we can expect to see a significant increase in demand for laptops. Vendors are also working on the design of the laptop to make it stronger so that it could withstand shocks and jerks. New technologies are integrated into laptops to avoid failure and data loss. That however is beside the point when it comes to their new Multibook G22 which packs some impressive features for a netbook. Under the hood you'll find a dual core Atom 330 processor, NVIDIA Ion, 2GB of RAM and yes a multitouch trackpad. It also comes with a 12.1-inch widescreen display that is good for 1366x768 pixels. Not to stop there though, the system ads such things as a 320GB hard drive, 10-in-1 card reader, VGA out, HDMI out, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a DVD burner.

Most impressive is it weighs just 3.3 pounds (without the battery). No word on price or availability yet, but we're sure that will come around in the near future.

5. After making one of the biggest blunders it could in the launching of its glorified netbook, Sony has axed Vista from the equation and instead replaced it with the much better suited XP.

Of course this means you are going to notice performance jumps if you should buy a new one, but unfortunately the inclusion of XP has not dropped the price any.

Some other news includes the addition of a 2GHz Atom in the Japanese version coming June 6th as well as a 256GB SSD option. You can expect this to run up the price from the base ¥85,000 or about $900.

That said, we'll be waiting on any other news as to when we will see a 2GHz model stateside.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H

The Eee PC 1008HA "Seashell" has basically just started to get recognized and, instead of letting the machine soak up the press, ASUS has decided to announce new variations of the 1008HA, and only a day after. But these new netbooks are not the 1005HAB that was tipped off on ASUS' support site. They are, however, the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M and the 1005HA-H.

The 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H have the same slim styling as the "Seashell" but with a few added upgrades. Both computers have removable batteries, both 6-cell for each computer good for up to 8 hours of battery life.

The 1005HA-M takes a lower end approach coming in with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 160GB hard drive, and 1GB of RAM and Wi-Fi and a 1.3 megapixel webcam but does not support Bluetooth.

The 1005HA-H is mostly the same as the "Seashell" as far as integral gears go with a few differences. The 1005HA-H has two USB 2.0 ports, keeps the 1.66GHz Atom Processor, supports Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 1 GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive. Both the 1005HA-H and 1005HA-M have 10-inch WSVGA 1024 x 600 displays with the 1005HA-H adding a glossy coating.

Connectivity wise, both computers contain 3 USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out, ethernet, and a 2-in-1 card reader. The measure about 10mm thicker than the Eee PC 1008HA and also weigh about 0.3kg more.

The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-H comes with a price tag of $473 and the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-M comes in at $405. Both machines come in either black or white colors and should go on sale in France by the end of July with a release in the U.S. sometime after that.

Dell Latitude 2100

Never before has a laptop been more designed with a student in mind. The new Dell Latitude 2100 is a netbook that is designed specifically for the education market, especially students from kindergarten to eighth grade. The Latitude’s durable design and kid-centered features make this laptop ideal for the rapidly developing minds of children.

The fundamental components of the Latitude are very comparable to those of most other netbooks. It features Intel Atom CPU, Windows XP, and 1 GB of RAM, but the major difference with the Latitude is its covering. The outside is rubberized, thicker, and heavier than most typical netbooks. This casing protects the laptop from the rough patches it is sure to go through in the hands of a child. Another interesting child-friendly note is the anti-microbial keyboard that is offered when purchasing the Latitude. This feature helps prevent the spread of germs between laptop users.

This laptop has many other aspects to consider. One which is definitely worth noting is the network activity light that is centered on the back of the lid. This light glows when the Latitude is connected to the internet. Dell designed this feature to alert teachers when a student is drifting away from their school work and instead surfing the Web. Dell also says that educational software designers will be able to incorporate this light into their programs to allow for teachers to see when a student has completed their assigned tasks in class.

The Latitude is larger and heavier than most 10-inch netbooks. It weighs 2.9 pounds with its three-cell battery and measures 10.4 x 7.3 x 5.7 inches. To solve any problems with the weight, Dell has designed a custom computer carrying cart that can be used in classrooms to store up to 24 netbooks. The Latitude comes in five fun colors: School Bus Gold, Chalkboard Black, Ball Field Green, Blue Ribbon, and School House Red, and its starting price is $369.

I think that Dell has done a fantastic job developing this idea of a student netbook. A kid-friendly laptop with a durable design, an anti-microbial keyboard, and a light that indicates Web surfing is something that schools have been waiting for. Laptops are necessary within schools for projects, activities, research, and a variety of other instances, so having a laptop that can take a few scratches and bruises will save them from expensive computer repairs. The network activity light will aid teachers in keeping students on track and eventually allow for notice of a students completion of an activity. All these features, plus the reasonable starting price, make the Dell Latitude 2100 a wonderful new technological development for many schools and students.

DELL STUDIO 14z IS HERE!

Will you look at that? This time our attention turns to the Eee PC manufactured by ASUS.

As you can plainly see from the photo above, someone at ASUS thought it better to use tape to secure parts in place then using something a little sturdier. Pretty good price for a notebook that matches the Macbook at every point (and some).

HP ROLLS OUT NEW NOTEBOOK MINI 100 IN ITS MINI NOTEBOOK FAMILY

HP announced the launch of its latest notebook HP Mini 110 series which will replace Mini 1000. This new member in Mini notebooks family is available in pick chic, black swirl and white swirl protective HP imprints and comes in two flavors- The HP Mini 110 Mi Edition (Linux) and Windows XP Edition costing $279.99 and $329.99 respectively.

Its Linux version can be further upgraded to faster N280 CPU from Intel N270 Atom CPU while its Windows XP version features identical CPU upgradation option. Some of the other features include WiFi connectivity and 6-cell lithium-polymer battery which require extra $40 in the price.

The best part about this new series is that you can take it anywhere you want with all-day battery life and has the ability to connect to the Net without a WiFi hot spot. The Mini 110 contains three USB ports, a VGA connector, a LAN jack, microphone/headphone combo jack and a five-format memory-card reader. Weighing about 2.6 pounds, this notebook’s economy-class version is expected to hit Indian markets next month. Well this fight has a sudden turn of events as Japans DosPara has decided to pair "Romio and Juliet" together in the form of the Prime Note Cresion NA.

Yes people, NVIDIA's Ion chipset is paired with a dual-core Atom 330 processor, 2 gigs of RAM, 320GB hard drive and if that wasn't enough, memory card reader, optical drive (built in), HDMI out and a price tag of about $600 U.S.

Yeah, we're not too poised about the price but we do digg the idea of NVIDIA and Intel playing nicely....with some third party support.

ASUS AND DISNEY TEAM UP FOR CHILDRENS NETBOOK

Its not everyday Disney makes a succesful bid for the control of your kids tech lives. With so many of them available out there, which is the best netbook of the year? I guess there's no exact answer to this question. But base on all the reviews and user feedback that we have seen from all over the Web, a few of them are outstandingly getting most of the reviewer's compliments and positive feedback from end users. They are the winners of the netbook competition in 2008.

Here are the five top netbooks of year 2008:

1. Samsung NC10Specs:

1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor

1 GB RAM

160 GB Hard Drive

6 Cell Battery

XP Home

Price: $482.99

Samsung NC10 is the first 10-inch netbook from the company. And as usual, Laptop Magazine has got an early review on the new 10-inch machine from Acer. According to them, the Aspire One AOD150 is slim, stylish, and comes with great performance and battery life. If not because of the keyboard and touchpad layout, it's almost comparable to the Samsung NC10 and the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE... and it beats the other two in terms of price ($349.99). Overall, Laptop Magazine gave it a rating of 4 out of 5.

The Acer Aspire One AOD150 appears to be another great netbook that can be listed in our best netbook list. It's unfortunate that it's currently not available in pink, but we believe sooner or later, Acer will release a pink version, just its 8.9-inch predecessor.

This is a keyboard from Asus which will provide you with most of the functionalities of a standard laptop. The Asus EEE keyboard would feature a 5-inch touch screen at the right side through which you can shop online, communicate with people via email as well as many more things. You can control a media center for a living room or a office or an entertainment area.

First introduced in CES 2009, Asus EEE keyboard come pre-loaded with a 1 GB DDR2 RAM as well as 16 to 32 GB SSD storage. You can connect the keyboard with a monitor or a television through wireless HDMI output or HDMI port. It runs Windows XP operating system. The keyboard also features three USB, VGA, and audio I/O ports. Though the company is not yet confirmed how to market the device, it is expected that Asus EEE PC would hit the market in August with a yet-to-be announced price tag. However, reports available in the media suggest that the wireless version of the keyboard will come with a price tag of $600, while the other version with HDMI port would be priced at $400.

It is really very to predict about the performance of such a keyboard which is still rare in technology world. One thing is for sure that many people will be curious about the keyboard. However, I do not think many people will jump on it right away after the release mainly because of its price range.
